A Planning Application has been submitted for the development of Abhainn Dubh Wind Farm.
The proposed Abhainn Dubh Renewable Energy Development will comprise 9 wind turbines and up to 149.9m tip height with a total generation capacity of up to 40.5MW. In addition, it is proposed to include up to 30MW of battery storage capacity. It will be located approximately 4.5km west of Evanton, 5km north-east of Strathpeffer and 4km north-west of Dingwall.
The applicant is Abhainn Dubh Limited, which is an associated company of E Power Ltd. E Power Ltd. is an associated company of Invis Energy. Invis is a proven partnership between Asper Investment Management and the Craydel Group. Headquartered in Cork, Ireland, since 2011 we have been jointly developing, constructing, and operating greenfield renewable infrastructure projects, with a primary focus in onshore wind farms. In 2018, E Power opened an office in Dunfermline with a target of developing a portfolio of renewable energy projects in Scotland, backed by the established experience in Ireland. We have quickly gained a foothold in the sector with over 500MW at various stages of development and we continue to discover new sites.
If approved, E Power is also committed to providing a community benefit fund equivalent to £5,000 per megawatt of installed capacity per year. Based on an assumed installed capacity of 58.5MW, this will result in an annual value of approximately £292,500 per year. With a 30-year lifespan, this will provide approximately £8.7 million in community benefit.
